12/24/2019- Wish List: Receiving

This is the fourth sermon in Pastor Rhodenhizer’s Christmas Series “Wish Lists” that focuses how we should receive gifts. How our reaction honors not only the gift, but the Giver and how our reactions honor Christ who gave all for us!

Wish List
Lesson 4:  Receiving

Galatians 4:1-3 I mean that the heir, as long as he is a child, is no different from a slave, though he is the owner of everything, but he is under guardians and managers until the date set by his father. In the same way we also, when we were children, were enslaved to the elementary principles of the world.

1.    Every gift has a cost

Galatians 4:4 But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under the law,

2.    Every gift has a benefit

Galatians 4:5 to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons.

3.    Every gift gets a response

Galatians 4:6-7 And because you are sons, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, crying, “Abba! Father!” 7 So you are no longer a slave, but a son, and if a son, then an heir through God.

Here’s the Point:  Receiving honors the gift and the Giver
